About

The TADAEX/NODE Exchange Program was founded in 2014 to establish a personal connection between the media arts scenes in Iran and Germany. It provides a unique opportunity for collaboration in different environments at home and abroad, supports a growing understanding of different artistic approaches and sets the ground for an intercultural reflection on research and creative practice in Iran and Germany.

Interview at KOOSHK Residency, Tehran

Amir Bastan (Iran) and Georg Scherlin (Germany) were the artists selected for the first TADAEX/NODE Exchange. They started working together for two weeks in Tehran. The resulting piece “I ́m so glad to tell you”, an interactive installation, was on display during TADAEX 2014 in Tehran, Iran.

Artist talk at NODE15

Half a year later they met again in Frankfurt, Germany for the NODE15 Forum. During their residency in Frankfurt, Amir Bastan and Georg Scherlin developed a series of collaborative works especially for NODE15 Wrapped In Code – The Future of the Informed Body. The future of the informed body “Circular Piece (Square)” is an audiovi- sual installation exploring the realms of bodies in space through running. Working in the Basis Projektraum for the last two weeks, their performative practice in front of a camera was shown in the same space, drawing attention to the changes and shifts that technology applies to the representation of the human body.

About the Artists:

Amir Bastan (*1991) studied painting at Sooreh Art University in Tehran. He is a media artist with a focus on video art and real-time projects. In his works he explores the conflict between the conscious and the subconscious. The output of his works are generally digital and he concentrates his work on video and video performance. Amir has exhibited at galleries and museum such as Parkingallery, Tehran, Columbus Museum Ohio, Pratt Institute New York – http://www.abaxtan.com

Georg Scherlin (*1985) is a visual artist based in Berlin. For his work, he’s reflecting observations of everyday situations with notes, recordings, and, if necessary, with his body. His artistic practice is based on re-assembling those impressions into a wide range of media including sculptures and (interactive) video installations, drawings and texts. Using technology and diverse material as the narrational source, he creates moments in which fiction and reality are blurring together – http://ggeeoorrgg.net
